After the new DOD update, I went on a server and the game froze.

After a window poped up and said that VPU Rocover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver command.

It said the same thing on other DOD servers.

Can anyone tell me waht does means?

There is probably a problem with the new update and certain graphic cards. Is yours an ATI graphics card out of curiosity!

Regardless Go and update the driver again to the latest one off the video cards Site and retry. if it still fails than uninstall DODS and reinstall it again and give it another go!

Yes, its ATI's Radeon 9000 Pro. Does that matter?

No. it is just that ATI have Driver issues and are a real Pain. as they are EXREMLEY SLOW to fix issues and get them out to people. I was an ATI Fan 10 yrs ago but after Experiencing unexplainable Problems only to change out the Ati Card and have Them go away was sufficient Evidence and the soga Continues To this day. That aside .

I am assuming your card Runs other Programs just fine? Does it run Counterstrike Source Fine still?

If That is the case Than Reinstall Dods as suggested above and see if the problem is corrected ? If Not Reinastall the latest Driver again from ATI Website!

If that does not Work i would Try another Video Card and see if things Work.

Did you you Overclock and play with the Chip settings if so take them back to default and try again!

This problem still have not been solved. I contacted steam about it and they told me that I need more memory (RAM). I exited many program to free up some memory but it still does not work.

When I enter a server, the game screen is kinda fezzy and after a few seconds, the whole screen goes black.

I already reinstalled my vidoe driver and the newest update. I know its not my computer specs because the game worked well before.

I'll take any suggestions.

THAT IS not ram doing that! Do you have another Video card to try out? An older One perhaps?

Does The computer only do this in games? Can you do everything else on your computer?

xp Home are you running?

I prescribe, perhaps a complete removal of your gfx card drivers (you can get various utils that completely clean your system), and then an install of the latest from ATI. Also make sure you have the latest revision of directX (which came out 8/8/2006 - microsoft.com/directx).

Failing that you could try using the omega drivers for your ATI card - fyi, they're the latest drivers from ATI, just tweaked.

I suffered thru many VPU recovers with my current GFX card, and its usually the game to blame, or your drivers - like wilson said, this is not a ram issue.

Yeah this is a good driver cleaner Mike http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/

Hex so you like and trust the omega drivers :?: I just ask because I would have tryed them allready but have'nt heard too much about them

Do you guys Dedicated ram to you game
This is what Casey says

-heapsize: Dedicates a specific amount of memory to Source.

Increasing the allotted memory can yield substantial performance gains. However, it is important that you dedicate the right amount of memory. Dedicating too much or too little could actually cause a performance decrease.

It is recommended you dedicate half of your system memory. Below is the recommended usage:

512MB System Memory: -heapsize 262144
1GB System Memory: -heapsize 524288
2GB System Memory: -heapsize 1048576

Thanks for the help guys

Day of Defeat Source is the only game that is not working. CSS is working fine. I am running on XP pro.

Yes, I have not installed the lastest directx. I'll try that.

I never said i trusted the Omega drivers richie ;)

I don't use them myself (i have, but never noticed any performance gains), but it would be worth a shot to get mike playing again, until ATI updates and hopefully fixes any issues.
