Alright, a little Think birdie asked me to post this..although it is alittle late.
I understand you've been server hunting, and that nuclearfallout.net is one of the options, and I would like to give a recommendation. My Bf:1942-DC+BF:2 community deals through nuclearfallout.net, and I don't think I have seen equal service from any other server host. Althought they are alittle pricy, they offer great control panels, and absolutely amazing customer service, in my opinion completely worth the extra money. They have almost perfect server-up time, great servers, and great customer service. I don't know if this really matters or not...but I just figured I'd try to help out :)

Spoon,
Thank you for your input on NFO. It is very helpful to hear what actual customers have to say about their hosting service. Given the significant disparity in pricing between Clanservers and NFO - $64 vs. $174 for a 32-player CSS server - there has to be a huge difference in performance and service to justify the additional cost.
You are a very helpful utensil, Spoon. From this point on, you shall be known as the Official Think Utensil.
Regards,
Creatio

Official Think Utensil or Creatio,
Why the hosting service at all? As I've gotten to know you guys a little (You all seem Savvy) and I learn the finer points of the game, again, why?
I assume its money. Instead of dropping 2K (Should be enough right?) on a new dedicated server on someone's broadband connection in their basement you have the other option of leasing a server......Right?
If a senior ADMIN way back when, springs for a box that can host a decent game and then take donations for upgrades to dare I say ? generate a small source of income - in the end - would that be cheaper and possibly - slightly profitable for the ADMIN who starts it up?
Is the THINK community only 5 months old? It seems relatively tight knit and it doesn't appear that loyalty will be a problem. Would it be cheaper in the long run to just buy the box?
I ask this because I appreciate the servers you guys do have - no porn and no profanity I'd like to stick around and I 'm curious which way you guys are headed.

At $3500.00 + for the server box is not the problem its getting a big enough pipe to feed all you folks! (you have a healthy apetite and need feeding all the time) :P If we could get by feeding you grain that would be great but we want bandwith and that costs unfortunatley.
the next step is who will look after the server? IT needs monitoring and does require work and takes time from your everyday life! Its a chore that is best left to others to maintain. If It goes down and the operator is away how do we access the Server! Not a choice frankly! We need that taken care of!
In addition One dual Cpu Server is not going to meet our needs as we have looked into this and we would need Two at the present state we are at! So double that price and a little more:shock: AS WE KEEP MENTIONING TO EVERYONE THIS IS NOT A CHEAP SET UP WE RUN! This costs a great deal and looks as though it may Cost us a great deal More!   So Everyone needs to ask oneself how much is this Site worth to You and I hope we see everyone Climbe on Board as we Need Every one To assist with this! I can only say it will be more than 5.00 a month! :P
